Distinguishing between dynamic and static content

Here's a snippet from a recent support mail that came to us. I am sure this will help other users who might have similar queries.
'How does Site24x7 distinguish between dynamic and static content? For example, if my web site is working but my database is not, how does site 24x7 detects this?'
Our answer:
Site24x7 can check for the presence or absence of any keywords in your website. It can also check if your webpage content changes. These options are present under 'Advanced Configuration' section. To distinguish between static and dynamic content on your website, you have to specify the 'URL content changes in %' option under 'Advanced Configuration'. By configuring this, Site24x7 will alert you whenever there is any change to your website content. You can also check for the presence or absence of any keywords in your website.
If your backend server fails but the web server is running fine, monitoring port 80 of your website alone won't be sufficient. You need to check for presence of non-static keywords in your site that are either generated by your scripts(JSP or ASP) or output from your backend server. In the event of your backend server failure, Site24x7 will alert you for absence of those keywords even if your webserver is up and running.
