We're discontinuing support for Triple DES (3DES) cipher from April 30th, 2017.

The reason for discontinuation of 3DES support:

Cryptographic protocols commonly use block cipher algorithms, like Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Triple DES to encrypt data between clients and servers. To use such algorithms, the data is broken into fixed-length chunks, called blocks, and each block is encrypted separately according to a mode of operation. Older block ciphers, like Triple DES, use a block size of 64 bits, whereas AES, on the other hand, uses a block size of 128 bits and guarantees more security, and makes the cipher less vulnerable to birthday attacks.

Action required:

After this discontinuation of support for 3DES cipher, Site24x7 customer agents running on Windows XP, 2000 and 2003 OS's, that do not support AES-based cipher suites by default, will not be able to communicate with the Site24x7 server. To continue using uninterrupted service, we request you to follow the below-listed steps and apply the hotfix.

Agents running on Windows 2003 OS:

Customers first will have to upgrade to Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 using the below links: 

• Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2  for 32-bit x86
• Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2  for x64 Editions 

After the upgrade, please restart your servers and follow these instructions to apply the hotfix.

Attention: Windows XP and 2000 OS users:

We'll be discontinuing support for Site24x7 customer agents running on Windows XP and 2000.

We request our customers on Windows 2003 OS to apply the hotfix at the earliest, as we’d be disabling all Triple DES (3DES) cipher suites from our load balancers by April 30, 2017.
