Hi,
We see customers start and stop Azure machines regularly and we get alerts for those even if the root cause says "This virtual machine is stopping and deallocating as requested by an authorized user or process."
Can we tell Site24x7 not to alert for failures with that root cause?
Hi,
Thank you for contacting us. We are working on a solution for this. Will keep you posted on the updates. Btw, It would be great if you could share a few use cases with us.
For example, what are the typical cases where a user stops a VM and start it? How do you determine that customers are stopping a production instance for a legitimate problem? This is to make sure that Site24x7 does not stop alerting for the production VMs being monitored.
Also, do you record a reason for the VMs being started/stopped manually? This would help us build the feature to your requirements.

Hi - can we do this yet (2024)?
Like the OP, we have some VMs in Azure which are started and stopped automatically as required for virtual desktop. We'd like something other than "down" and red on the dashboard when this happens. OR we would like it to only alert as down only if ALL the VMs are off, as a minimum of one is usually running.
Thanks!
Hi,
We have an option to suppress the alerts when you don't want to receive the alert emails during manual power off or during maintenance situations.
Please go through this document for more information on it.
Regarding the specific query asked for status other than "Down", we have it our roadmap and will keep this corner updated when it is up.

Hi, thanks but it's not a manual power off or maintenance. These VMs are automatically started and stopped by Azure Virtual Desktop services based on time of day rules and user load. VMs are started and stopped when the user count passes a threshold per VM. A minimum of one VM is running between certain hours, and then allowed to shutdown overnight if not in use.
We are still interested in failures or other problems, but if AVD shuts a VM down because it isn't needed we don't want an alert message or red icon on the dashboard. The root cause is usually given as mentioned by the original post.
Thanks
Hello MikeReeves,
We are working to support this enhancement soon, which will identify VM shutdowns by AVD scaling plans and prevent alerts from being sent.
Additionally, customers will be able to mute these alerts for Azure Virtual Desktop monitoring. We will keep this thread updated when it is released.
