Feature Request - Disk Queue Length

I would like to be able to see the disk Queue length the same way i currently see the disk I/O.
And i would also love to see the options to set alarms based on I/O and Queue length.

These counters are really good to predict performance degradation based on Hardware/storage issues, specially on shared virtual environments.

Hi,

Thanks for bringing this in as a feature request. Currently, we do not support monitoring the Disk Queue length. However, we will add this to our roadmap. We will update this post once the feature is developed.

Regards,
Sushma.

Do you have update about disk queue length monitoring?

Hi,

We now have a plugin integration for monitoring the average disk queue length counter on Linux servers. Please refer our documentation on how to install this plugin.

Let us know for further questions, if any, in the below thread.

Mathangi

What about on Windows Servers?

I agree with this, a valuable metric for our platform has been being able to measure the average disk queue length to diagnose slow performance, we primarily need this on Windows servers however.

We have written plugin in vbs which uses WMI to fetch the value for Average Disk Queue Length.

For adding Average Disk Queue Length plugin please follow the steps listed below

1. Download the attached zip file and unzip AverageDiskQueueLength.zip under the Plugins folder
      Eg: C:\Program Files (x86)\Site24x7\WinAgent\monitoring\Plugins

2. The Site24x7 Windows agent will now automatically detect the plugin and mark it up for monitoring.

3. User can set threshold for Average Disk Queue Length and get alert when its violates.
Login to your Site24x7 account -> Server -> Plugins -> AverageDiskQueueLength -> Threshold Profile -> Click on pencil icon to edit

To write Windows plugin

To write Linux plugin

Is it on the agent-based roadmap to be able to specify specific WMI counters or add custom WMI counters to the tabs under the monitor?
