I am looking to install the Windows agent on a Citrix XenApp PVS server image. Is there a syntax to install the agent but not have the service to start so the cloned/provisioned VM's will not need a registry edit afterward?
Thanks
Eric
Hi ebduncan,
Thanks for your request. We will work on the steps to install the agent on Citrix XenApp PVS server image.
Will update this post once ready.

Muralikrishnan
Hi Muralikrishnan,
Has there been any updates to this?
Thanks again
Eric
Hi ebduncan,
The feature is already there in our roadmap. Due to other priority work items, it is in queue.
Will inform our Development Team to prioritize and make the feature available at the earliest.

Is there any guide for Installing Site24x7 Server Monitor on a Citrix Session Hosts (Master Image) used with MCS? How can the S24x7 Server Agent be "personalized" auto or manually? There is nothing in the web about that! Please help!
Hi,
We have a few queries before starting to work on the feature. Please take a few minutes to tell us a little more about your feature request:
- Will the Citrix master image be running as one of the VMs in your infrastructure?
- Will you be cloning the VM from the master image at any point while it's running?
We would like to know these details, because the Site24x7 Server Monitoring agents maintain a unique ID from the server's UUID to register as a new entity and persist data.
Hence, if you happen to clone the VM from a running master image, the existing ID will be captured and the cloned VM will hold the same ID. The cloned VM will be registered as the existing server monitor in Site24x7, and not as a new monitor.
Let us know these details that will help us work on this feature.
Thanks!

Hi Muralikrishnan
You can read more about Citrix and MCS here: docs.citrix.com/en-us/tech-zone/design/reference-architectures/image-management.html#machine-creation-services
But actually, you do not need to know any details about MCS.
Think about a cloned VMs. The Site24x7 Agent on these cloned VMs should be personalized (reregister all VM IDs an UUIDs you are talking about) so that all created VMs from Master-Image will have different, individual Identities.
So we need a personalization-process, to prepare these Master-Images, for Cloning.
- delete all Site24x7 Agent data
- delete all unique files, IDs, UUIDs, Tokens etc.
- prepare the system, to recreate all this stuff after reboot!
The first time the Site24x7 Agents starts on a cloned VM, it should register itself as a new Monitor in Site24x7 platform.
I hope, this was clear enough.

Ajdin
Hi Adjin,
Thanks for the clarification.
Our development team is analyzing the case. Will update this thread once the feature is live.

Hi Adjin,
We have developed a script to easily perform the execution steps in the master image.
Note: The script should be executed in the master image before cloning the VM.
Please find attached UpdateRegistry.zip. Unzip the file and execute the script UpdateRegistry.ps1 as administrator in the master image before cloning the VM.
Hope this helps. Let us know for further questions, if any, in the below thread.

Hi all,
Is this script still valid with the latest Windows agent release? I do not get the information I need off of the agentless and looking to place this on our master Citrix image.
Also, is anyone using this script/method currently and has any feedback?
Thanks
Eric
Dear Eric,
The script shared above is for Server agents it will not work for agentless server monitors. Can you confirm if you have the server agent or the poller agent?

Correct, I want to use the agent.
Do I install the agent, stop the 24x7 services and then run the script or does the agent need to be running?
Thanks.
Apologies for the delay Eric. I had to confirm with my team.
Yes the agent needs to be installed in the image, Eric. The service need not run. Run the script so that the image is reset with default agent settings.
Now you can deploy the image in VMs. Once the those VMs are up and running (windows services needs to run), the agent will communicate with Site24x7 and monitoring will automatically start.
Try it and let me know. You can follow this KBase to understand what happens behind the scenes.
