Right now, the monitoring options for Azure SQL DB is limited to the same general metrics we can get from the resource in Azure.
The SQL Server Insights monitor has been helpful tracking database blocks, database blockers, and high cost transactions.
It'd be nice to have this same option for Azure SQL DB.
Obviously, the current design for SGL Insights, that is, on box, would have to change to something performed by an on-premise poller.
Hi Dennis,
Thank you for bringing this up. I'm delighted to inform you that we are currently working on providing more metrics for Azure SQL DB. In the mean time, could you let us know if you had any particular metric to be shown as part of Azure monitoring.
Regards,
Jenzo.
We'd be most interested in long running queries, expensive queries, blocking and blocked sessions, and creating some alerts on these.
The native Azure tool has some limited visibility, but we'd like a single pane of glass and the superior alert configuration offered by Site24x7.
Hi Dennis,
Thankyou for posting and we have noted your requirements and as informed, we are working on providing more metrics for Azure SQL DB which would be of value for your requirement. Will keep this place updated.
Regards,
Jenzo
