Edit RUM Monitor
You can edit the following metrics or configurations of your RUM monitor:
- Ajax calls
- Bots and Crawlers Configurations
- Domain configurations
- User agent
- Exclude IPs
- Resources configurations
- Alerts and Reports
For single page applications, Ajax calls are monitored by default.
To monitor Ajax calls for traditional applications,
- Log in to your Site24x7 account > RUM > Edit application.
- Choose application framework type as Traditional.
- Under Ajax calls configurations, choose Yes to track Ajax calls.
- You can also track Ajax calls that are loaded from external domain. Choose Yes to track cross-domain Ajax calls, if you want to monitor them.
Bots and Crawlers Configuration
Upon enabling this, bots requests will be filtered out while calculating the performance. Also, pageviews will not be consumed if bots are configured to be excluded.
Enter the domain names for which you dont want to track or monitor your website's performance. To exclude the domains,
- Log into your Site24x7 account> RUM > Your application.
- Edit configurations > Domain Configurations.
User agent is a browser software that provides information about the browser to the respective websites.
Examples:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64)
AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko)
Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36.
You can exclude user agents by mentioning them in the above specified format.
You can also exclude monitoring your website from certain IPs. Pageviews generated from these IPs will not be tracked.
Your website resources can be classified as first-party, third-party and cdn resources.
By default, Site24x7 does not capture your resources. You can choose to do so by enabling it.
You can also group your domains and assign them to a particular name for your easy reference.
To configure your resources,
- Log into your Site24x7 account> RUM> Your application> Edit configuration.
- Click on Add Resources.
- Enter your domain group name and choose their types (first, third or cdn).
- Enter your domain names and click Save.
You can configure alerts in real user monitoring (RUM) for the following metrics:
- Apdex score
- Average response time
- Error count
- Error rate
- Front-end time
- Network time
- Back-end time
- First Contentful Paint (FCP)
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)
- First Input Delay (FID)
You can set alerts as Trouble and Critical, based on the severity level.
Follow the steps below to configure alerts:
- Log in to Site24x7 > RUM > Click on the application.
- Click on the pencil icon and navigate to Edit Monitor Details page.
- Under Configuration Profiles, click on the (+) icon to add a new threshold and availability profile.
- Choose the Monitor Type as Real User Monitor and provide a name for your alert in the Display Name.
- Choose metrics from the drop-down Set Threshold Values.
- You can also set one value for Trouble alert and one value for Critical for the same metrics. For example, you can set threshold value as 2500 ms as Trouble alert and 3000 ms as Critical alert for average response time.

- After configuring threshold values, click Save.
You can tweak the settings in Notification profile, to decide when to receive alerts when your application goes to Trouble or Critical state. Additionally, you can also configure user alerts groups - this lets you decide who should receive alerts when triggered. When you add a new RUM monitor, the default threshold profile gets applied. You will receive TROUBLE alerts when your Apdex score (< 0.5) and response time (>2000ms) exceed the default value. You can edit the default threshold profile to include more metrics for your alerts.
Reports
You can view Performance Report and Busy Hours report for your RUM application.
To view reports,
- Log in to Site24x7> Reports > Real User Monitor (RUM).
- Click on Performance Reports - you can view performance reports for metrics like response Time, Apdex score, throughput, users, and web vitals.
You can view Busy Hours Report for your application response time. For a chosen time period, you can view the report, either on an hourly basis for a particular day, week or month or on a day to day basis for a particular week or month. Learn more.
